Do women ovulate more than once in a cycle?

I am often asking my clients when are they having sex in their cycle.  Unfortunately its often not frequently enough.

They are commonly, using tools like LH testing strips to make sure they are trying to conceive at the right time but what if there was more than once chance?

If women ovulate more than once each cycle, this could mean that some couples are missing out on extra valuable opportunities to fall pregnant, suggests a Canadian study.  This fact could explain why some women fall pregnant whilst taking the pill.

A growth wave of 15 to 20 egg-carrying cells called follicles occurs before ovulation. One follicle will become dominant while the others die off.

“It’s been assumed until now that women have just one wave per monthly cycle, leading to one ovulation, but nobody has actually carried out detailed analysis before,” said Roger Pierson, who led the study. “In fact, all the women in our study had at least two waves and 30 per cent of them had three.”

I recommend that couples are having sex every other or every two days throughout the cycle to really make the most your opportunities to fall pregnant naturally.
