The Pill Can Shut Fertility Down

This is quite a statement and I don’t say it lightly, but I had a case this week which highlights this point.  

This weeks client had been on the pill (Yasmin) for 11 years from age 19-30 years. She had come off the pill 1 year ago to try for a baby and had only had 1 period since (in 11 months). She had been given a course of letrozole by her doctor to induce ovulation but it didn’t work. She then started homeopathic treatment with me. She had 6 weeks of homeopathic remedies. These remedies were aimed at cleansing the pill out of her system, promoting ovulation and balancing her hormones. She hasn’t had a period since because the remedies switched her ovulation back on and she became pregnant straight away.

This has happened to me several times before, where the client wasn’t having a period since coming off the pill. I had given homeopathic remedies and they got pregnant without having a period again. This is because they ovulated before they had a period. So if you can conceive the very first time you ovulate, you don’t actually have a period until after the baby is born.

When a woman’s reproductive system has been shut down by the pill it can still be giving the body the wrong information even if she stopped taking the pill a long time ago. I believe this is because the pill is designed to switch the reproductive system off and that message is held in the body. It’s almost as if the pill is working in the opposite direction that the body normally likes to go in. This results in the body getting stuck in the off position even though the woman isn’t taking the pill any more and hasn’t been for quite some time. It’s like the body has been programmed in the wrong way.  

The client I saw this week said to me that she felt that she was having pill-induced PCOS because before she ever took the pill, her periods were completely fine with no issues whatsoever. And yet since coming off the pill, she had all these cysts on her ovaries.
